On November 18, 2020, the Kekava Municipality Sports Agency signed a grant agreement with the European Commission, within Erasmus+ Sports program to implement project “Carpet bowls for everyone/CARE” that should be implemented from 01.01.2021. until 31.12.2022. The project is designed to promote a carpet bowls game that is suitable for people of all ages. And thus, it is planned to involve an increasing number of people in health-promoting physical activities, so that the activities are different and regular, as well as to promote cooperation between people of different generations.
The fourth meeting of the project partners of the Erasmus+ Sports project “Carpet bowls for everyone / CARE” implemented by the Kekava County Sports Agency took place in Enna, Italy, from 26 to 29 September 2022, with participants from Turkey, Norway Latvia, Denmark and Italy. The host organization was partners from Enna, Italy – Società Consortile Rocca di Cerere A R.L.
On the first day of meeting was discussed final version of the Carpet Bowls handbook and was organized Carpet Bowls tournament at Scuola Media G. Garibaldi to reintroduce traditional Carpet bowls game into the daily lives of people of all ages as a remedy to tackle social challenges of today – physical inactivity and social inclusion.
On the second day of meeting the participants had the opportunity to take part in one of most popular health-promoting physical activity – bike tour. Bike tour were organised around the lake in PERGUSA UNESCO Global Geopark.
One of the most interesting experiences was participation in the traditional Italian game Bocce – at Bocciodromo Villa Farina.
The next and the last project meeting is scheduled for October, in Latvia, where the host organization will be Kekava Municipality Sports Agency.
